WestJet adds 18 per cent more seats on Calgary route in 2015

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo International Airport, in conjunction with WestJet, is pleased to announce increased air service between Calgary and Waterloo Region.  Passenger demand has increased significantly over the past seven plus years, since WestJet launched service in May 2007.  With the addition of more flights and the use of WestJet’s Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, 16,780 additional seats will be available to passengers in the Waterloo Region and Calgary markets.  Seats are now available for purchase on westjet.com or through your preferred travel agent.

“We believe it is important to give local residents the option to fly from home and we appreciate WestJet’s continued investment in our community by adding additional seats,” said Chris Wood, General Manager at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.  “WestJet will begin using the Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this route in March, and the additional flights in the fall will provide even more opportunity to fly to Calgary and to points beyond.”

“Air service is a function of supply and demand,” said John Weatherill, WestJet’s Director of Network and Schedule Planning. “This increase in capacity between Kitchener-Waterloo and Calgary is a direct result of the strong support we’ve received from the Waterloo Region in particular. We’re extremely grateful for this support and look forward to welcoming even more guests from the Region on board a WestJet flight to Calgary this summer.”
