Snowbirds to perform at Waterloo Aviation Expo & Air Show 2010 with Guelph native Lieutenant Colonel Chris Bard, Team Lead
Waterloo Region - The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre are pleased to announce that the Canadian Forces Snowbirds 431 Air Demonstration Squadron will be performing at this year's Aviation Expo. The event is scheduled to take place Father's Day Weekend June 19 and 20, 2010 at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.
"We are thrilled to have such a great Canadian Icon take part in our Aviation Expo" said Bob Connors, General Manager of the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre and Chair of the Aviation Expo & Air Show Committee, "and having Guelph native Lieutenant Col Chris Bard as Team Lead is something we all can take pride in."
The announcement was made earlier this month at the International Council of Air Shows Annual Conference when the Snowbirds unveiled their line-up for 2010. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are Canada's precision aerobatic jet demonstration team. Formed entirely of active military personnel, their mission is to represent the skill, professionalism and teamwork of the men and women of the Canadian Forces. During their 2010 season, the Snowbirds will perform approximately 65 shows in about 40 different locations across North America.
LCol Bard, 38, hails from Guelph, Ontario and was appointed as Team Lead and Commanding Officer of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, following a competitive selection process in 2008. LCol Bard brings over 6000 hours of flying experience to the Team on the CT-114 Tutor, CT-156 Harvard, BE-90 King Air and CP-140 Aurora aircraft.
Waterloo Aviation Expo & Air Show is a family focused, two-day aircraft exhibition presented by the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre, and encourages individuals from all walks of life to experience the thrill of aviation. The primary focus of the event is to promote awareness of general aviation and celebrate the advancement of aviation technology, accomplished through hands-on exposure to aircraft, displays and performers.
