Media are invited to attend the second annual Make-A-Wish® Go Blue! Go Bald! head shave
Waterloo Region - For the second year in a row WestJetters from Kitchener-Waterloo will participate in the Go Blue! Go Bald! head shave event. WestJet Station Manager Rui Pinto and many WestJetters including Calgary based Janice Webster, Vice-President of Recruiting and Talent Retention will shave their heads to support one of the airline's national community investment partners, Make-A-Wish®.
"We are very proud, once again, to be part of this amazing event. It is an event that allows us to be ourselves and do what comes naturally - care. WestJetters care for our guests, each other and our communities. I am very fortunate to work with such an amazing group of individuals and for a company that truly values people" says Rui Pinto, YKF Station Manager.
WestJetters will also provide volunteer support at the event.
Go Blue! Go Bald! will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cadet Youth Development Centre located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport in Breslau to help raise funds for Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario.

WestJet, through the WestJet Cares For Kids community investment program, has been a national corporate partner of Make-A-Wish® Canada since March 2007. WestJet donates flights to Make-A-Wish® chapters across Canada to help fulfill travel wishes, and encourages employees like Rui Pinto and his fellow WestJetters to become involved with their local Make-A-Wish chapter.
Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario grants wishes to create hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses across Southwestern Ontario. In 2008 Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario granted 89 wishes, which represents a 93 per cent increase from 2006. In 2009 wishes continue to increase. The chapter has already in 2009 granted nine wishes, and has currently 70 wishes underway across Southwestern Ontario. Support from events like Go Blue! Go Bald! helps Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario continue making wishes come true.
