FlyGTA Airlines launches 18 minute service between Toronto Island and the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF)

Waterloo Region, ON – Today, FlyGTA Airlines and the Region of Waterloo International Airport are proud to announce the launch of twice daily service to Toronto City Airport. Flights will operate Monday to Friday aboard an eight-seat twin engine Piper Panther aircraft. Flight time is 18 minutes. One-way airfare between Waterloo Region and Toronto City is $129, including all taxes and fees. Seats are available for sale through your travel agent or online at www.FlyGTA.com.

“FlyGTA will operate from an executive terminal on Toronto Island, right next door to the main terminal building. When you arrive a shuttle is waiting to take you to the main terminal, where you can continue your travels by air or use the pedestrian tunnel to reach the mainland,” said Chris Wood, General Manager at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. "The walk through the tunnel takes about six minutes. From there you can catch a free shuttle to Union Station and be in downtown Toronto by 8:30 a.m. – minus the stress. That sounds pretty good to me.”

In 2016, FlyGTA started service between Toronto Island and Niagara-on-the-Lake. A year later, the service is a success. FlyGTA now operate eight flights each weekday with a reduced weekend schedule. With a 12 minute flight time, it is North America's shortest commercial flight.

Kitchener-Waterloo is the first of a three city expansion for the Canadian airline. FlyGTA plan to also launch service in Barrie and London.

“The 101 kilometre trip between Waterloo Region and downtown Toronto takes at a minimum, 1 hour and 17 minutes by car. That is without delays,” said Chris Nowrouzi, Chief Executive Officer for FlyGTA Airlines. “We know that our 18 minute flight will improve the quality of life for people that commute to downtown.”
