Canadian airports launch first-ever Canadian Airports Safety Week
Waterloo Region, ON – Today the Region of Waterloo International Airport, along with 23 other airports across Canada, kick-off Canadian Airports Safety Week, a new airport-led initiative to promote healthy and safe work practices among airport employees.
The first program of its kind for the Canadian aviation industry, Canadian Airports Safety Week which runs from August 24 to August 30, 2015 aims to reach thousands of airport employees across the country with themed safety talks each day, which were developed in collaboration by participating airports.
“We are happy to take part in the first ever Canadian Airport’s Safety Week,” said Chris Wood, General Manager of the Region of Waterloo International Airport. “This collaboration between Canadian Airports to reinforce safe behaviours shows the industry’s commitment to the safety of all passengers and employees. I encourage all 300 airport employees, and all aircraft owners, hangar owners and tenants to take part in this week’s activities.”
The Region of Waterloo International Airport will be hosting a variety of activities throughout the week to promote the daily safety messages to its airport employment community. It will also be hosting a F.O.D. (Foreign Object Debris) Free Barbeque on Friday, August 28, which will be open to media.
