Airport Management Council of Ontario (AMCO) Members Elect Executive to Board of Directors

North Bay, Ontario, Canada – During the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Airport Management Council of Ontario (AMCO), members of the association voted to elect skilled and dedicated airport professionals to the Executive level of the Board of Directors.

Returning to serve and provide essential experience and knowledge on AMCO’s Board of Directors are Duane Riddell, Airport Manager of the Red Lake Municipal Airport, who has been elected President; Chris Wood, AAE, Airport Manager of the Region of Waterloo International Airport, who has been elected Vice President; Terry Bos, AAE, President and CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation, who has been re-elected to the position of Treasurer; outgoing President Mike Karsseboom, CD, AAE, General Manager, Airport Security, Compliance, and Planning of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, who will move into the role of Past President. Marion Smith, Airport Manager of the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport, was elected to the position of Regional Director for the southwest region replacing outgoing director Chris Wood.

Duane Riddell, a licensed commercial pilot with over 35 years of aviation experience in North Western Ontario, currently manages the Red Lake Municipal Airport. Duane is an active member in his community sitting on several volunteer boards and notably chairs the Norseman Festival Committee which is dedicated to the preservation of aviation heritage in the region.

Chris Wood, AAE, Airport Manager of the Region of Waterloo International Airport has over 20 years of aviation experience. He holds a private pilots license and has previously been on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Airport Executives Canada (IAAE) and the Canadian Airports Council (CAC).
Terry Bos, AAE, President and CEO, Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation has been on the Board of Directors for AMCO since 2010 and has been re-elected for his second term as Treasurer. He currently serves on the Board of IAAE Canada, as well as chairing of the IAAE Accreditation Committee and Board of Examiners, and has been with the Sault Ste. Marie Airport since 1999.

Mike Karsseboom, CD, AAE, brings over 35 years of experience in the aviation industry to the Board of Directors and has been with the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport since 2015. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Bird Strike Association of Canada and is a member of the Board of Examiners of IAAE Canada.

Marion Smith, Airport Manager of the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport began her career in aviation over 20 years ago. Marion holds both her power and glided Pilots licenses and has previously held the position of Treasurer on the AMCO Board of Directors from 2012 through 2016.

Changes to the AMCO Board of Directors are effective November 1, 2018.
