YKF 75th Anniversary
YKF 75th Anniversary Open House
Saturday, June 14 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
This year, the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) is proud to celebrate its 75th anniversary! Since opening our doors in 1950, the airport has grown from a regional airfield to a vital hub supporting economic development, tourism, trade and community growth by connecting Waterloo Region to the world.
To celebrate this historic milestone, we will be hosting a 75th Anniversary Open House on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event will allow attendees to explore the air terminal building, static aircraft on the apron, and the domestic arrivals building.
Explore world-class art at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF), featuring local and internationally acclaimed artists throughout the terminal. Engage with some of these artists during the day and discover the stories behind their inspiring artworks. Learn more about our featured art installations.
Instead of admission, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank. We invite residents to join the YKF team, airline partners and support agencies to celebrate the past and set the stage for the future.
75 years. One incredible journey. As the Region of Waterloo International Airport looks to the future, plans are underway to continue upgrades, green initiatives, and expand service to meet the evolving needs of our passengers and partners.
The first 200 people to join us in celebrating the 75th Anniversary will receive a commemorative YKF75 coin, which can be picked up upon arrival at the main doors of the Air Terminal Building. In addition, YKF and Stockyards Beverage Company have released a speciality line of YKF75 merchandise that will be available for purchase at the event.
